The best part of Christmas may be the gifts and the holiday cheer, but what really
ties it all together is the music. That’s why I’ve ranked my top three favorite Christmas songs for you to listen to this holiday season, starting off with number three. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee is a holiday classic, released in 1958 for the season. Personally, it’s a song I have always found catchy and enjoyable. It really sets the mood for any Christmas party, and is sure to have you moving and grooving with ease. It’s almost universally enjoyed by most party goers.
Next up, in the number two spot, is Bing Crosby’s “Winter Wonderland”. Another classic, this song is perfect to have on while you’re cozied up by the fire drinking hot cocoa. I’ve been listening to this version of the song since I was a kid, and have always been mesmerized by the deep sound of Crosby’s voice. It’s a wonderful song to get together and laugh while you settle down for the night after opening up loads of presents. It really brings back loads of memories for me, practically nostalgic for a time I’ve never known. That’s why it’s one of my favorites to click on during the season.
Last but not least, Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” — written for his album “McCartney II” in 1980. As a die-hard Beatles fan, this song really gets me thinking about gift giving and holiday cheer. McCartney just has those soft yet deepened vocals that any singer would die for, which makes him ideal for Christmas songs. I’d say that it’s much better than Lennon’s Christmas song that doesn’t strike any particular
holiday themes, although both songs are equally wonderful. This song is just perfect for parties and gatherings alike, something to put on while you’re baking cookies or simply sitting by the window on a cold winter night.
That’s all I have for my top three Christmas songs, I hope you’ve enjoyed my list. Merry Christmas everyone, and a Happy New Year!
