Glittery dresses, perfect bow ties, and heels so high you can barely walk. Hopefully that brought you back to your own prom night. Cardinal Newman hosted their 2024 prom on April 19th at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott. Although it was a fantastic night, students gave both positive and negative feedback.
The food is always one highlight of any prom. This year the Junior class attempted to do food stations rather than a buffet style meal. The food was delicious, and there was something for everyone. There was a pasta station, salad bar, quesadillas, pizza, chicken tenders, hamburgers, and of course the most delicious dessert bar. The chocolate fountain had an amazing assortment of strawberries, marshmallows, and all different kinds of food for everyone to dip in the chocolate, and was a big hit. Junior, James Molina, agrees that his “favorite part was the food, and he enjoyed eating pasta and the chocolate covered strawberries, but I didn’t enjoy waiting in the long lines”. Looking at past years it was a strong solution to avoid waiting in too long of a line. This worked in theory, but with the mass amounts of people going to get food at one time caused some problems and confusion. However, next year adding clear beginning and ending signs or runways may make it more helpful to attendees.
The most exciting part of the night is of course the fashion. Every young lady looked absolutely stunning in her floor length gown and hair done. All of the young men rose to the occasion sporting their jackets and ties. This stunning night had people in all sorts of colors, ranging from black to red to blue.
Of course all eyes were on our prom King and Queen by the end of the night. This year Max Paggetti and Mariandrea Cadena Molina won the crown and the crowd’s hearts. At the end of the night they got to dance to the song “All of Me” by EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner John Legend.
In recognition of this incredible night, we would like to take a moment to think of those who made it happen. The junior class officers spent so much time using their creative minds and collaborating to make this happen. They did everything from sampling the food to making sure that everyone had an amazing time. A special thank you though goes to Mrs. Politz who for the first time as junior class moderator made this prom absolutely unforgettable. Not one student was miserable or alone, and her hard work truly made a humble vision turn into a grand reality.
