Early this month the band, chorus, drama, and dance departments participated in the christmas concert “Keeping it Merry”. The dance team kicked off the show with exceptional choreography to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”. While there were initial technical difficulties with their music. Before intermission, they put on an amazing performance. After the dance team, the drama department came out with their play about how the Christmas star was stolen! Therefore, Santa wouldn’t be able to deliver all his presents on time. So, he sent 3 elves out to solve the mystery. There were many characters, but the Christmas tree who came to life definitely stole the show! The three elves interviewed suspects such as the Grinch and Jack Frost after looking twice at the naughty list. After completing the first act of the drama show, the chorus came on and sang Christmas carols. The songs included Ave Maria, Mary Sat A Rockin, Do You Hear What I Hear, Believe from Polar Express, and Silent Night. There were also solos from a few of the senior chorus members such as Catherine Eldred, Alexis Oms, and Nathaniel Gonzales. After the chorus, there was a 15 minute intermission where the audience and performers could wander to the cafeteria to purchase beverages and snacks. At the beginning of the second half of the show, the drama department performance finished with a twist, one of Santa’s elves had actually stolen the star! Fortunately though, the star was returned and Santa was on time. Unsurprisingly, it was a happy, joyful ending to put us all in the Christmas spirit. Then the band performed their amazing songs including Do You Hear What I Hear, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, African Bell Carol, Sleigh Ride, Hanukkah is Here, Hanukkah Holiday, and a Polar Express Arrangement. Finally, the chorus and band played the closing songs together, even getting the audience to sing along to Silent Night and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Overall, the evening was amazing and all the art departments were phenomenal, leading it to be loved by all who attended. All the hard work and dedication of the performers paid off in this excellent performance!
