Varisty Boys Basketball Season Comes to a Close

The Cardinal Newman Varsity Boys basketball team had a respectable season with a total of 14 wins and 11 losses. The Crusaders had many ups and downs throughout the season and challenges they had to overcome together as a team. For instance, sophomore Jarard Mosley had an injury that caused him to sit out for most of the season, so he was unable to help his team until Regionals where he could resume playing.

The Crusaders had very memorable moments this season, such as beating their rivals Oxbridge Academy both times they played the Thunderwolves. Another exciting part of the season was when the Crusaders beat Jupiter High School. In the last few minutes of the game the Crusaders had a lead, the score was 41-40 with the Warriors down by one. The Warriors had made a layup changing the score to 41-42 with the Crusaders down by one. Senior Vladimir Vibert drove the ball to the other side of the court scoring and winning the game for the Crusaders at 43-42.

According to Jarard Mosley the “season went good but there were plenty of times the Crusaders could have done better. The Crusaders lacked discipline to follow the coach’s game plan and execute it”. The Crusaders went to Regionals this year but were not able to push through and beat the Westminster Academy Lions. That game marked the end of the 2019-2020 Boys Varsity Basketball season.
