Cross Country Takes Flight


This weekend the Crusaders Cross Country team ran against 25 other teams in the rain and mud. They had six runners get personal records – their best time of the season.

This was great news said Coach Keelin Hayden. “For some of our runners it was the first race of the season!”

The runners have a vigorous training schedule that includes the following:

Monday — Track workout — normally amounts to about 3 or 4 miles
Tuesday — Short run (1.5-2 miles) and then weight room workout
Wednesday — Long run — 3-5 miles
Thursday — Short run (1.5 -2 miles) and then weight room workout
Friday — Long easy run

These workouts depend on the week and the meet schedule. “Before a meet we normally try to take it easy while after a meet we do run a little bit more than usual,” said Coach Hayden.
